Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit
Grass Island is a site-specific dance theater installation created at and for Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit’s 2024 Surrealist Gala.
The Alcove Gallery was transformed into a courtyard where, on a small square of astroturf, five dancers live out overlapping scenes as neighbors and strangers, furniture and occupant, observer and observed. Sneaking around corners and emerging through fabric walls, the performers create pockets of outside and in.
